Anyone with INPA should be able to help you. Don't waste your time going to the dealer, I heard they charge around R580 for this:RedNo:

What needs to be programed when you change the battery?

Do you need to do that everytime you disconnect the battery or it goes flat?

Battery only needs to be registered if the car is fitted with an IBS on the negative terminal. If it's just a bare cable then you have no need.

I didn't know what an IBS cable is. So, found this and thought I'd share.

E60 lci has the ibs, so that makes it at least 2007, not sure if the pre lci had it.

Yes, they had the cable. On my 2006 E60 530d i had a problem with the wiring when i fitted a tow bar to the car and i had to make a modification to the ibs cable to cancel the seat belt warning on the obc screen. Also, the registration of the battery to the car is for the car to "know" when the battery needs charging/when it is full. Cannot remember exactly how it works. Have read an article a while back in one of my BMWCar or Total BMW mags about the battery registration. Had mine done two years ago on my 2006 car when i was in Upington and needed a new battery. Service advisor at the BMW garage did it for free! Was very grateful as the battery is quite expensive and i did not even buy it from the agents. iirc., i have seen this cable on my son's 1999 E46 328i as well.
