B8 bilsteins

Hi guys. I bought a set of front B8 bilsteins for Bmw e30. However for some reason it does not go into the strut casing. The ones I bought are 51mm and my strut casing is 45mm. I can’t return it because it got scratched when the technician tried to put it in. They are brand new except for the scratch on the one insert now. These are the lowered shock when can be used in lowered.

There is a guy with a 535i e12 that may want it but I don’t want to sell it to him unless it fits but we both not sure. Anyone know if it will work in the e12?

Or my one interested in buying these from me. I paid R5600 for the two but I will probably drop the price on it now.
