as far as i can gather it basically works with a servo that uses air to close the doors when the car reaches a certain speed,...not really sure how to fix

That should be controlled by a module inside a car (EWS??)

It should be programmable by the dealer, but if it was working and now is not, then something probably broke.

Does the central locking work normally, say witha key or the button ?

In Carsoft, it does not give any coding options for the E36, E34 or E32. The autolock feature coding starts with the E46, E39 and E38 as far as I can see...

I think it is a bit more than just a chip. You will proably need to somehow hack the ZKE module to do this, then you will have to program it, then install the wiring to the LCM to get the speed output etc...

Programming at the dealer. It should lock at 16km/h.

Given that it is a German car, I find that almost a little odd. I would expect those "precision to detail" people who are also imperially-impaired to go for something like 10 or 20km/h, but instead they went for 16km/h which is 10mph. Perhaps not as weird as just interesting...

I think the german's have a love affair with the number 16. On my E34 and E38, the car stays "awake" after you lock it for 16 minutes. So all the computers etc are all humming away for about 16 minutes until everything finally goes to sleep!!!

PS: Donovan, I think there is a meeting happeneing somewhere in December. If you can make it to that, I will bring my Carsoft along and set that Auto Lock for you.
