Help needed. I want to have my headlights switched on automatically when car is started. I have 2005 E90 without auto headlights on switch. Any suggestions as to how I can do it?

Why not look for a auto headlight switch from junkyard and fit that ?

Or speak to ABM for a price on one.

So a few things here,

Welcome and congrats on the car. Maybe head over to the new members section and introduce yourself, and maybe post a picture of your fine steed, nothing fancy needed.

you have two options

1. As mentioned, you can leave your headlight switch permanently in the "fully ON" position. The car will not beep as it is not the parks/driving lights you have selected. This does mean that as soon as the car is turned on, the headlights will be on, come rain or shine, night and day, hell or high water. By far the quickest, easiest, and cheapest solution.

2. Do a full auto-headlight retrofit, this can cost quite a bit, and some of the part are impossible to find. You will need the switch, the sensor, the RLS lense, new mirror shroud, wiring harness (or make your own) and coding. The hardest part here will be to find an autolight switch that matched your car, and the RLS lense is about as rare as a sacrificial virgin these days.

Unless you plan to keep the car for quite a few years or it is essential to you to have this feature, I would go for option .

Depending on which model you have it might be possible via coding,

I had an E90 pre lci and when I switched the DRL feature on in the settings the headlights would work as DRL's so basically on from the time you switch the car on even though the light switch was on the off position.

I didn't want that as I wanted my Rings to be my DRL so ended up doing some coding and changing the DRL from Low beams to Parks.

Mine doesnt have the auto switch, it will only deep if you leave it in the park light position.

If you leave it on the fully on position the light will stay on until the door gets opened, then they will shut off.

When you return to the car and open it with the remote the car will fade the lights back on.
