Very good read.

And indeed true, IMO. Speed does not kill.

It's the sudden stop afterwards that does :fencelook:

I used to be a proponent of raising speed limits. But I have now given up any views i had on the subject and resigned to sitting at 20km/hr below the existing speed limit behind the bastard that is doing 101km/h and refuses to move over into the slow lane because in the next 20 minutes or so he will be overtaking the truck that is doing 100.5km/h.

In Cape town it seems that 80km/h on the highway is the speed the majority of people travel at... fuel prices maybe?

I remember when I was last driving in the Cape...beautiful scenery and great roads...but the drivers! :bangdesk::bangdesk: As a Gauteng driver it is honestly the most frustrating thing.

goverments love the saying "speed kills" , it allows them to brainwash the population into supporting speed enforcement regimes that are lucretive beyond their wildest dreams..

whereas the biggest killer is actually recklessness.. when last have you seen a driver being fined for overtaking on a solid white line.. skipping a red light, ect..

or a speedtrap in front of a school zone? not lucretive enough.. more money to be found on the freeway..

this is exactly my sentiment I would rather see more cameras at Robots than speed cameras

i agree 100% rather aim for those that would argue less and pay fines for minor issues as opposed to major ones.
