well, lets be real for a second...

The V8 in that RS4 is an awesome piece of engineering actually....

What drops the Audi though is its drive line. As brilliant as that AWD system is, it makes the car boring as oversteer is impossible unless in hectic situations, and the AWD makes it too damm heavy with too much power loss.

And in front wheel drive its just lame (i know the RS4 is not available in FWD... let not get technical)

Which is, simply why the M > RS...

It is a great motor leonard & it's no joke, however >IF< compared directly against the likes of bmw or others, i personally think it falls in the shadows & it's not really worth mentioning....

6 consecutive years for the S54, 3 years and counting for the S65, 2 for the m67 and 1 for 3.6l turbo porsche in the "3.0l to 4.0l" category. "Above 4.0l" - honors go to the M73, N62 and 3 consecutive to the S85. Bmw has indeed shown that they know exactly how to make an engineering masterpiece and then some. Case in point - 50 awards in the last twelve years with the next best on 22, and they aren"t exactly slowing down either:excited::excited:

With that said, i rate the best thing about the RS4 is the motor (i'm sure you'll agree), therefore i disagree wholeheartedly with your closing statement. There are a variety of reasons, you just mentioned a few :)

+1

I agree with ya man.

I do however feel that Audi makes a better/functional interior in the 4's as compared to the 3's...

However, all of this is good and well, there is just one thing that Audi cannot get away from, and this is the reason why I will never own one again.

Fact, the worst trade in on a second hand audi is from Audi themselves, you can still sell a second hand BMW back to BMW at reasonable market value, same with merc, the manufacturer will buy them back at at least what the market is offering you, not audi, they are 10 to 15% market regardless of you pulling another audi off their lot. If Audi is not prepared to invest back into their brand to retain customer loyalty, then why should I bother buying their products (which i quite like btw, I have owned 2)
