App development

Hey guys,

The other day I heard on the radio about some kid in the W.Cape that designed an app that was apparently quite good and they were singing his praises.

I have no idea what the app was or what it does.

It did get me thinking though. I managed to crank out a number of cool ideas for mobile apps, but I have no developer/coding skills.

Thus my question:

Is it difficult to "design" an app or could anyone do it? If it's hard, then where would I go to have a developer bring my idea to life and how would I protect my intellectual property?

There is a kid in the USA (17) who designed one a few months back,Google bought it from him for a few million Dollars.
Good money in the App industry.

Hi Guys,

Wrt app development, anyone can do it if they learn to code. Generally you need to learn two languages for android and ios each. You do get programs that you can use one code base for both, however this limits you to functionality and sometimes the markets reject the apps made with these programs etc. Also with ios there is a fee you pay to upload your apps.

We are busy developing an app (android and ios) for one of my clients currently. So if anyone needs an app developed, you can pm me if you want :=):

Its definitely the way of the future! :)

There are companies and individuals you can go to, that will write the apps for you. You just need to give them a good idea of what you want.

Anyone with an affinity for coding could do it. From complete noob to producing an app will take quite a bit of time though, not really I would recommend trying if you have a job and aren't willing to spend a lot of time learning.

As for getting someone to code your app, your best bet would be to get someone you trust to not steal your idea.

A reputable company that aren't in the business of owning IP would definitely not steal your idea, but they will cost you an arm and a leg (and a kidney, liver and probably heart too, depending on how much you think is "a lot")

sorry to break the news, but no ideas are "unique"

it's all about execution.

there were hundreds of "social" sites before facebook

Rather get someone to code it for you, anyone could learn to code but it takes some time to properly learn how to code and get the required experience.

Try freelancer.com , for R250 they make the code sign a non disclosure agreement first ect ect. You will get a quote from hundreds of coders, you can read their reviews and decide from there who you would use to code it for you.
