Only problem is that you can't play online or upgrade your PS3 firmware...

I always a hasle when the newer games come out as they have pre-loaded newer FW.

You have to get the latest crack etc

mine has been working fine for over 8 months now. i have absolutely no issues, and its really easy, i did a DIY job.... plus the e-boot files for the newer games are all available on the internet for download

yep i dd it to my ps3 its worth it believe me! i pay R20 per game! and can get any game as soon as it comes out.. all i had to do was go to this guys house with my ps3.. he plugs it in and put two programs on my ps3 which can easily be removed again... the done it for free and only charges R20 per game :rollsmile: and the ps3 works perfectly still if not faster :joy:

i did it. wow im impressed. i got about 500gig of games and they all work perfectly besides michael jackson expereince.

i can now even watch mkv files through the showtime media player...it plays everything..im super chuffed. :thumbs:

I had my ps3 firmware changed to play copied games and my console is still in perfect condition. highly recommended, but cant do online gaming, minor issue for me. :=):

Got it done and best of all it was free from my dads friend, now i get all the latest games loaded on free aswell:rollsmile:
I say take it to someone and get it done and then they can load games on at 1/10th the price

I use PS3 Media server to play MKV 1080p movies and series on my home system. Haven't used it for games. I rather buy my games. Nothing wrong with copied games its just my preference.

I've used PS3 Media Server, no issues with it
Works like a bomb.

Had a server setup with all the media on it, played everything! Depending on the PC though, it might battle with 1080p and seeking, eats resources.

I still use the media server. It works very well. 1080's will kak off when loading, and if you ffwd or rwd it will crash the player. But the spec of the Server itself is slightly better than a ZX spectrum.

Personal opinion on "jailbreaking" the ps3.. not worth it. You lose all online game functionality eg No patches, no updates for the firmware of the system itself, no no no! AND you will ALWAYS have issues with newly released games.

Think about this:
Brand new game +-R650 on release day.
1 week later - Same game 2nd hand = R300
3 weeks later R200 or less.

Or take your old games that you dont play anymore and trade them in towards a new game.

Eg: SBK-X = R600 brand new
Im trading in:
Star Wars Force Unleashed 1
Heavenly Sword (Platinum)
Ratchet and Clank (Platinum)
Fifa 11

Thus equating to me having to only pay R100 for SBK-X

All your points are spot-on for jailbreaking the ps3. Think about it, u trading in 4 games and giving R100 for 1 new game?
I can get SBK-X for R10, because mine is jb'd :rollsmile:
NB: i am not encouraging jb'ing at all by saying this, but jus proving to you that there are sum small minor perks to it.

im doing this tonight...I have CFW 3.73(jailbreak), Multiman, BDemu.

hope it works - if it doesnt then i probly wont admit having screwed up my own console.

@Vert - Gooood luck pal. I suggest backing up your HDD first.

I took my 40gb console, backed up the data to an Ipod. Put in a 500gb drive and copied the data back and hey presto - 500gb drive in a 40gb console!

I'd suggest the back up first because IF you balls up the JB, you can always start afresh WITH all your saved game info

Let me know how it goes.
