Not sure about this car in particular but am familiar with these kind of 'dealerships'.
Scam in the sense they say they are selling you car in a certain condition but its all bullshit. Its rebuilt and the odometer rewound
They buy accident damaged cars in some sort of salvage auction. Most of the time, they are written off. These cars don't have comments or even accident reports lodged against them (not sure how they get this part right).
They then fix it at their panel beater buds but ONLY visual repairs. Everything underneath is basically scrap.
I went to look at a car a few years back from one of these guys.
Took it to Dekra for a check and was informed the car is absolutely rotten underneath, nothing is straight. Body filler everywhere.
What was even more confusing was that these guys asked me to meet them at the police station to view the car, lol.
Meeting at the police station gives a false sense of security, because you would think if the dealer is scamming you why would they meet at the police station.
Eish this brings back memories for me too.
back in 2004 was looking to by a daily.
there was a 20v RSI in bottle green at this 1 dealer on Voortrekker Road, Cape Town
Car was IMMACULATE!!!!! and had something like 55000km on the clock and they only wanted 65k for it Which was Questionable but Condition of the car looked million times better than the km's. so i was ready to pull the switch on it there and then
As god planned, My uncle was with me to check it and the more he tried to convince me its too good to be true, the more i kept on saying its a Deal of a lifetime and how i can sell it in a few years for 100k blah blah blah..
When my uncle had enough of my Idiocy, he told the salesman, " We will take the car. it will be cash." Salesman wanted to Run to get the papers then uncle stopped him and then said, " Can we take the car to AA first. We will be paying for it out of our pocket"
how quickly that salesman turn around and told us the car is was 2 halves put together
I was so shocked as you would never say that its 2 halves put together
So grateful my uncle was with. We then went straight to VW N1 City, bought a brand ne 1.4i Velocity Golf instead.
They were selling for R86000 brand new then.
Promised myself to never buy from Voortrekker Road dealers
