Anyone changed E36 Jatco auto gearbox filter and oil before?

Hi,

I have a '98 E36 323i auto with Jatco box (A5S300J). Car only done 80k kms but 17 years old. I've read extensively and am really wanting to change the auto trans filter and oil. Got prices for parts, though the oil is a killer - gotta use Bmw agent Appollo something oil. So is the oil life-long?

Anyone done it here in SA and not regretted it?

There's a place called Executive Transmissions the guy's name is Mikhael I think, he apparently works on and rebuilds these boxes. I haven't had any experience with him so I wouldn't know how good they are but it came from a reliable source.

Alternatively chat to the good doctor on the forum A1exander (Peter), he will be able to advise you accordingly.
