Any E36 turbo's here?

Hey guys, was hoping to get some pics of any E36 6-cylinder turbo's we may have lurking on this forum. I'm interested in how you got around the steering rack, and what sort of manifold and wastegate setup you went for, and how you routed to the intercooler. Don't be shy!

It's called aircon delete. The turbo sits where the a/c compressor used to. It's not ideal though as the turbo sits too low for the oil drain to work properly. Top mount is best and would sit where the windshield washer bottle would.

UK forums would be your best bet for rhd pics.

I think most E36/ E46 turbos on this forum run either Savspeed or Budler turbo setups. Reading up on this topic while doing research for my build the best places with lots of info on rhd turbo setups on this chassis will be UK and Australian forums as they have right hand drive. however most of the guys opt for the front mount cast/log style manifold.

The trick with building the top mount is trying to run equal length runners that are as short as possible but allow for enough space to put in a 3" downpipe.

wastegate location and setup is also a key player in the design most of the twinscroll setups run a dual wastegate setup which means even less space, the single scroll setups normally run 1 wastegate.

But if all else fails a screamer pipe and exhaust out the bonnet is an option

I have seen a Budler turbo build 1st hand the turbo was in the water bottle location this is what I would do as it is better than loosing the AC and you can relocate the washer bottle to where the old airfilter box used to be

The problem with a top mount is the heat trapped under the Bonnet and that is a major problem.Depending on the size of the Turbo you will also have to remove the Radiator bottle.A bottom mount should give you the least hassles and it will be more stealth in case the Cops come to inspect. No BMW should have anything stick out the Bonnet.
