The M4 has always been my dream car, i love absolutely everything about it.

finally the opportunity came up to get one at a bmw dealer

stock and full bmw service history.

picked it up on friday, saturday had a few cosmetic things done it

knowing the charge pipes and charge cooler are notorious weak points, I decided to change the plastic charge pipes out to metal ones and this is where things started to happen. en route to get this done, i get a warning that the oil is low, i was about 3 kms from the dealer. stopped and filled up with one litre as instructed by cars system. i mentioned to the incredibly good salesman who has been helping me (seriously, he is a rockstar) that this seems a bit odd. the car at this time is driving fine, nothings feels odd to me, its not smoking, there are no errors etc. i have driven about 250km mileage since friday when i got the car

i left to go to kyalami to get the charge pipes fitted. after about 30 minutes they call me to the workshop and show me this and also inform me that the car has aftermarket downpipes fitted, so definitely not stock. (see pics below)

i immediately take the charge cooler to the dealer as i am not not willing to drive any further.

they have the car collected this morning and i am waiting to hear from them.

they have been super helpful and arranged a loan car so i am not bashing them but i would like your guys thoughts.

im not sure what to do in general about this

I am no mechanic but those pics don't look healthy?
I also would not take any chances on any BMW when oil lights start coming on, especially an ///M car.
Does the car still have plan and until when?

I assume by the OPs statements that he was changing plumbing that there is no MP.

SA dealers living up to their reputation yet again.

OP, if I was you, I’d return the car. Not like there’s a shortage of M4s on the market.

They misrepresented the car. Return, refund. Walk away. "Bone stock standard", after less than a month you're finding bugs and mods on it already? If you want a clean platform - find a clean one. These aren't rare enough to justify not getting exactly what you want.

Agree just take it back, can get a M4 on every corner. Unless this one is like a low mileage or a certain spec? Not sure how bmw can’t see or smell a M4 with down pipes.

I hear of bmw selling previously modded cars as stock more often even with the hardware still in place.

BMW Sandton had my M3 on their floor “stock” and with MP two days after I traded it in with an X -pipe and Xcede software, which I was very upfront about.
