What about incliding the content of the om in the email notification? Then all pms will be automatically "backed up"?

This is the first I'm hearing about the mass "delete". Oh well.

The entire database is backed up every 24 hours, so if there's a really urgent matter that warrants us retrieving a PM for someone, we can do so.

Admittedly this was a rushed decision however I doubt there was vital info stored in any PM, and the forum is not intended as a cloud for vital info and should never be treated as such. It can be taken down (or die) at any time without notice. Members like our official vendors were notified by PM and email this morning to backup any important messages relating to trading on the forum.

there was evidence of transactions (dates and times) with my old shop, that I might have needed to access if it were to come to "legal" matters
also a few telephone numbers..
