Aircon System Repairs and ReGas

Hey all,

Need a contact for above. Seems the companies want to charge an arm and a leg and all they tell you is...could be this, could be that, could be R1200-R3000.

Anyone know someone that's decent and honest, and experienced, with the correct tools (including the proper 3-stage regas machine)?

Thanks,
Chicayne

Do it at a place like MotoLek...they add the dye into the gas and yes its more for leak detection, but also helps with lubrication etc....

Not sure where you're located but I received very good service and a fully functional, well performing AC system from Independent Car Radio and air-conditioning in Centurion, Pretoria. Paid about R800 for them to evacuate the system, check for leaks with dye and refill.

Out of curiosity, how long does a check, re-gas etc take?
A full day or a couple of hours.

I need to do one of ours cars but being far from the city doesn't help

Took her for an assessment and within two mins the guys says "seems your clutch is not engaging. Your pKas are on ZERO. So we'll have to trace the fault. Could be electrical or a relay or a motor or compressor or switch."

A little research online tells me that the compressor will not engage if the system pKa is too low, and noting mine is ZERO, this makes sense. So many people suggest that for the system to have a reading of ZERO pKa there must be a leak. And many (online) DIY solutions include a 2 step process...SEALANT and FREON.

So, perhaps I should charge the system with some 134a just to check if pKa inceases and the compressor engages?
