Aircon pulley noisy

Hi, wonder if someone can help. Car only has 40,000kms and I am picking up a noise from the aircon pulley. This only happens when the the aircon is switched on and the pulley is engaged otherwise all is quiet.
It is an intermittent noise but happening more and more often and scared the pulley may seize and rip up the belts and cause damage.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this and how the mechanism works that pulls in the pulley - does this possibly just need oiling?
When the aircon in on this operates 100% just the noise that is disturbing.
TIA

Hey Starman 202

Welcome to the forum.

Does it sound, almost whiney, and does the sound fluctuate with the engine revs?

It may be that the refrigerant is low...mine is doing this occasionally and was wondering about it too...I asked a friend who told me that its likely in need of a re-gas but I am unsure on this:thinking:

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks Gpgold, no not whiney but almost sounds like a rattle and does fluctuate with engine revs but aircon except for noise cools perfectly.
