hmmm interesting topic.... did these same guys that bought
their m3's cash in their 20's also buy property?

just wondering, im 33 now, i bought my place 8yrs ago, and
theres no ways i would have afforded to also buy a //m cash
in my 20s...

Probably not. Many are bought on HP with surety from their old man etc.

But some are depending on the work they do. But spending all your money on cars if you aren't gifted with a trust fund is not wise.

I've been working hard to get ahead and at 25 my mindset was to buy an M3 (before buying property- foolish idea in hindsight) soon as I had the cash for one with the goal of a 911 by 30. Recession kicked in and put a back burner on that.

Work has picked back up past few years but rather than getting the car first thing I bought my place and invested in my career instead.

I recently bought an E46 M3 cash now my liquidity is good again, I am 30 years old. I don't need motorplan to maintain it and do not have to sacrifice to afford the running costs.

Guess the Porsche will have to wait a few years;)

Good point. Those who bought properties first, found it difficult to buy an //M. I could only afford an e92 in my 40's.

Eish... No way I could afford an M in my 20s. I'm 30 now and just spent 500k on 335i which imo is really stretching it... Property wise bought a house at 25. It's now worth probably 2.5 or so. Buying a rental property too, approved and deposit paid but it's only going to be done in may. Little boy almost 1yr now, obviously want to send him to private school etc so that's being planned for, not sure about a second one though!

+1 Also looking to purchase a small rental property and once its bond is sufficiently settled so that it isn't a financial liability then maybe upgrade car with next big pay day. Oh dear gonna look like a mid life crisis sports car driver :p

I do contractual work and it's often boom and bust in the industry I am so after being semi bankrupt a few times have learned the hard way to try maintain a nest egg and some security.

Paid up my property and business assets 6 yrs ago.
I'm glad I got married at 20 and by 21 I had started my own business.
Good to have a early start in life

Well as you guys said life gave me a few challenges on route, Kids first and then bought my property and got the bond down to acceptable levels I only then I bought my E46 M3 cash at 38 and then did all my mods cash too. Now that she is on the market I'm looking to get a E92 V8 with all the goodies, currently 40 so there still time to get a new M one day

From 325is to m3 to citigolf to 320 to tazz to 323i Msport to 335i. The ups and downs were affected by time off to study and start a business, children (2) , buy a house, divorce! I'm 36. My goal to acquire M3/4....5 years from now....let's see what dreams may come

I see so many youngsters with cars costing a Bar+ living in rented apartments I just cannot understand the mentality.
