Hi guys dunno if I'm posting in right section but I can't seem to post in wanted section :skit:. Anyways looking for an after market filter for my e90 330i? Called masterparts they have 1 called "Euroman" for R180 has anyone ever had experience with this? Then they have the K&N filter for R740, would like to know are there any other options? Finding it abit hard to pay R740 for an air filter lol unless it's proven to give a few kw's :tiptoe: lol any info will be appreciated :ty:

Thanks for the response guys, ok so now I'm stuck with between either the close to oem mahle which is R90 VS the K&N which is R740 and makes my oil dirty more quickly :YesNo:

Also forgot to mention I'm kinda looking for something to give me more sound as my engine is too soft for me :smashScreen: used to drive a honda so I miss the NA motor scream lol

You could probably import the oem mann filters for less than the stealers charge for a simple air filter.

K&N for life

Will the K&N give a louder sound? If it does then that's what I'm looking for and will most probably order 1 from masterparts
You want an induction kit then. Gains are debatable. You may even loose power depending on the kit.

Decat or something if you want more noise.

There are better ways of making more power than letting more dirt into your engine....The oem m50/54 air filter has both foam and paper filtration, your oil stays cleaner for longer and you extend the life of your engine, it's a no-brainer in my book...

Besides, BMWs shouldn't sound like golfs with drilled air boxes...

I have seen stories on the interwebs about the oil used on the K&N filter being bad for the delicate fuel injection sensors, but I have no idea about how true the stories are.

You are correct, the oils damage the zirconium coating on the MAF sensor. That's the reason I stopped using them on BMWs.

K&N conducted their own research and they could not get oil to come off the filter... in fact they dipped the maf sensor in the oil and it started to read properly after a few min then the oil was blown off by airflow

I have been running K&N on my e46 now for a number of years with NO maf problems and rubbing my finger on the intake pipe post filter does not seem to be any more dirty than when I had the paper filter both let super fine dust in

BMW themselves use a K&N filter for the e90 performance intake if it caused maf problems they would not do it because of warranty

Bought my car with 32,000kms on the clock in 2007.

It now has 137,000kms on the clock.

I drove it from the dealership and that weekend fited an Inbox K&N filter.

I clean it every 10,000kms and use the spray that goes with it to re lubricate it, and I have never had any issues.

Before when I owned my Honda V-tec, I bought that with 150,000kms on the clock, and drove it up to 256,000kms, and had to K&N Cone filter on that, and no issues there as well.

My wife has the Honda 180i, we got it 4 years ago, and been running the K&N inbox filter there as well, no issues.

It comes down to maintanace, and keeping it cleaned and lubricated...but it can work.

Don't expect power gains, and on a bmw there isn't really a noticible difference in the sound, like on a CitiGolf, for me its more about the fact that in 8 years I haven't spent a Rand on airfilter, just washing it, and keepig it clean, and if you take what an airfilter costs at bmw, I am sure I saved some money.

PS: That is my choise and my oppinion, and I not saying anyone here is wrong in sticking with OEM filters. :thumb:

Honda/VAG/Opel and a few others use a MAP sensor so it would make no difference to them.

OP, its your engine, do what you please.
