Advise on buying

I am looking at purchasing my daughter a pre owned Bmw 1 series (f20) 1.6. The car has one previous owner with 70 000 km. I have checked the vin mumber with bmw and the last service was done in July. The asking price including a two year warranty is R220 000. I would appreciate any advice before purchasing this vehicle. Long term problems etc
Thanks so
Much

It's a troublesome motor at higher mileage. Avoid the 116i/118i and go for a 120d, they make better long term vehicles.

If it is your daughter's first car, and there is a likelihood that it would need some body work after a year or so, why not get something a bit lower cost to maintain with respect to body work repairs? I am not advising to get a Tupperware car, but something a bit robust that will be reasonable to repair. One of the larger Japanese hatches spring to mind.

when buying kids a car your first item on the tick list must be safety...check those stars and also what hijackers like. my 2 cents
