Ok so i have done some searching, this is what i have came up with

If i missed out anything please feel free to advise me

i7 CPU 3820 - R 3200
Gigabyte GA-Z77M-D3H - R1464
Nvidia GTX660 - R3036
2x 8gb Corsair Vengeance memory - R450X2
Mecer 128GB SSD - R 1290
Asus blu ray combo - R981
Corsair CX500 - R648
Sigma Unicorn Casing(still undecided) - R435

I have 3.5TB of external storage would i still need more internal?

How would i know what casing to check for and if everything will fit in there??

If the pricing is high for certain items please let me know where can i get it at a better price?

Thanks for the assistance and advice thus far

Check out my thread of what I got recently also PM if you have any questions.

I'm also a bit skeptical about the MECER SSD.

Why not a i5 3570K for R2500 instead? http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=11&products_id=6042

I tend to think that your CPU and MB should cost about the same.

I definitely wouldn't get a mecer ssd for that price (then again I wouldn't ever buy a mecer anything). You can get a ocz vertex 4 for about the same price. SSD's are one of those things people rave about but the quality/speed varies DRASTICALLY so well worth it to do a bit of googling on a specific model before committing.

If you want to lan, not even sure people still do that? Its a shlep to take your tower where ever... +1 Alienware although it is super pricey, else buy a high end laptop or even better wait it out for the PS 4 :D

Nothing will ever match up to a PC for gaming power. Stick to the pc.

Corei7 makes quite a difference over an i5 but an i5 is good enough. Mecer branded equipment is :yuck:

Other than that you on the right track

I also saw that there is a big difference between i5 and i7

Waiting for petri to see why it isn't :fencelook:

Would I be able to hook it up to a tv and get the same graphics as a monitor or is a monitor a must?

For gaming you would hardly be able to tell the difference between say the i5 3570K and the i7 3770K but you will be able to save R1000 and spend that on a more expensive GPU.

imo that would be better spending of the money

As such, we have a hard time recommending anything more expensive than the Core i5-3570K...

In a vast majority of games, the Core i7 won't demonstrate any advantage over the Core i5...

To summarize, while we generally recommend against purchasing any gaming CPU that retails for more than $220 from a value point of view (sink that money into graphics and the motherboard instead) there are those of you who have no trouble throwing down serious money on the best of the best, and who require the fastest possible performance available. If this describes your goals, the Intel Core i7-3770K may be for you.

and

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Intel/Core_i5_3570K_and_i7_3770K_Comparison/

The Intel Core i5-3570K provided remarkable performance on all tests and seems to be the processor with the highest performance per Dollar on the market right now

Very very little gaming performance difference

So my opinion: save R1000

i notice a fair difference in identical PCs with a corei7 on one and a corei5 on the other. corei7 so so much smoother. my son has the corei7 and i have a corei5. i am going to swop it one night when he is sleeping.

:fencelook:

i think that in those tests, the corei7 is cruising along not breaking a sweat and the corei5 is at its max? you will probably find that the corei5 is using more power. the corei7 will give you more room to play with. if you spending that much on a PC, why not spend an extra R1000 and get the best?

if you at the limit of your budget, then Petri's advice should be followed. If R1000 extra is not a problem, go the corei7.

So guess here is the place to ask the questions, I see everyone here is talking about Intel and the i range but what about AMD? I always thought AMD is the better option for gaming ?

That looks so cool Nick! I decided to go to AMD when I upgrade again. can't beat it when it comes to bang for your buck

I was gona get the A10 APU but they didnt have stock :bangdesk:

A8 is just as good tho.

I have ordered another MSI 7770 so i can Xfire as well as 16 gig extra RAM.

Lets look at at fx8350 vs i7 3770k or i5 3570k

People have mixed reviews about them but no doubt the AMD is better value for money than the intel.

What is overclocking and can it be done on the AMD as well?
