Advice needed on a chip for a E90 320d

Hello fellow fanatics!

Everyone has been so helpful on this site, so hopefully someone can help me out here... I have a 2008 BMW 320d (pre-facelift) that I want to chip, as I heard it would do wonders for the power as well as fuel consumption. My question is, what chip would work the best for my car and where would I be able to buy it? Thanks in advance!:smilebounce:

I think your best way to go would be a software flash and downpipe. The difference would be substantial. Look at Xcede or someone similar.

I'm not really sold on these chips and their gains. :skit:

This topic has been discussed at length, what I would advise is the following:

1. I saw in one of your other threads that your car needs TLC. If this TLC is of a mechanical nature, make sure your services are up to date and if there are any problematic areas sort that our 1st Last thing you want to do is squeeze extra power out of your 320d if its not healthy.

2. If you have a clean bill of health get a combination of a downpipe + Software.

In a nutshell the downpipe will make your car a bit more responsive and will also make your turbo a little happier as it will run cooler. There are a range of places you can get this done, Powerflow, TMSS, Rogue Performance etc.

Software wise you cant go wrong with either RK motion or Xcede. Both being forum advertisers: https://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=21941

Look at preventative maintenance items such as swirl flap blanking plates and replacing the crank pulley first if that has not been done yet before mapping/chipping the car.

I would personally recommend a remap rather than a chip and I am pretty sure 99%of the members would agree. RK motion and Xcede are the go-to guys with this.

A remapped car will only have a better diesel consumption when it isn't being driven too hard. Once you hammer a remapped car you need to feed those ponies,but you will definitely enjoy the power a lot more.

Hi yes:smilebounce: Mechanically the car is 100%, it's the exterior that needs some tlc which I have already started with. I went to Powerflow this week and got a whole new exhaust with a larger downpipe, and removed the catalytic converter...
