Does manually unlocking the door with the handle on the inside not work? My actuator also stopped working, but manually unlocking the door from the inside still works.

Seems like a common problem on the E90.

I had all 4 of mine replaced under MP. Hope you get sorted

Check the fuse. Just before my actuator packed up, it blew a fuse. Apart from the driver's door, non of the others wanted to open.

Yepp first check the fuse behind the cubby.

if the fuse is still good, then you need a new door lock.

Do you have the child lock activated?

If so you will need to undo the child lock

Hi, These things are very irritating, mine is also giving me crap, haven't had time to look at it, the drivers side door locks with the key, but not the remote, but I can hear it working, my best advise to you is to try and slip something between the window and door panel to try and pry the door lock up so its in open position, should work, weird that if you try to pull the handle inside it doesn't work,

the other option how i got my back left door open was pressing the unlock button multiple times (rapidly) on your remote with other your hand going through the window frame and grabbing the unlock handle inside the car. try to open the door every time you press the unlock button

so when pressing the unlock button on your key fob does your door pin go up and down.

There is supposed to be more than one fuse for the central locking system.

Check your fuse diagram (fuse card in fuse box). If a fuse is blown, then replace it with a larger amperage fuse and try the remote again. If this works, you will still have get the actuator changed as it is probably sticky/failing and causing the system to draw more amps.

Have you tried unlocking the drivers door manually - with the key?

you say you removed the door panel,

surely you can manually unlock it by pushing the lock button up then,
if that's not possible then its def the child lock,

I've actually had EXACTLY the same experience since last week. Rear passenger door won't unlock (it's frozen on the locked position). manually pulling the handle from inside or out, remote, or unlock button on dash all do nothing. I can hear the actuator when I press unlock ,but nothing. checked the fuses as well and both are fine (56 and 57 if I remember correctly).

Reading up on various forums I was pretty sure the actuator needed to be replaced, which sucked coz it's agents-only and I was quoted R2520 from SMG in century city for the part alone.

I remembered I still had an extended warranty so I took it to Forsdicks repair centre for a quote, hoping to get the insurance to pay at least some of it. One of the techies checked it out and told me it's not a problem with the actuator but with the cable inside that is stuck, and is apparently a common problem. So they quoted me 1,5hrs labour to open and reset it. Quote came to R675 ex Vat.

haven't had time to have it sorted yet, but I reckon I'll book it in at the repair centre and see if does the trick. If it fixes the issue, then the OP might have a similar issue. If they open up and find that it really is the actuator, then I'll have to go the insurance route.

Hey if you take it to them to be fixed please tell me what they done and how they opened the door if you don't mind.
