AC fan not working

i hope someone has some advice..
this morning there was just no wind coming from the AC. i can hear the AC kicking in on the engine noise.but no wind in the car,and i tried all settings.

all that i can think of is something is blocked. i washed the car yesterday and it was fairly dirty, could something be clogged?

I am sure its your final stage resistor thats dead.

okey, I have checked the fuses, no luck...

So now I guess the final stage resistor is the next best thing.

The only DIY I can get on this is this one...

Can anybody give me better info? A better DIY or at least tell me where the thing is? and how can I test it? I dont want to buy a semi expensive part and then its something else...

If its the rotor itself, wouldnt it have given a warning?

where is that motor? So that I can check for a gap letting water through as well?

what car have u got? can help you on the e36

resistor OEM via Bosch will cost you around R900, just replaced mine......and the fan motor R800 just to give you an idea.......resistor takes 20min to replace now for the fan motor.......

Wouldn't the final stage resistor just go gradually over time, and not just poof one day and not working at all, cause on our e46 318i it gave issues quite some time before it was replaced and during the time it was giving issues even to the day it was replace it never died completely.

ai, bought the car a month ago
aircon was a major reason why i bought a new car, now thats broken...
car is an e90 320d. guess the price tag will be bigger

When my resistor went i lost speeds 2 and then 3 on the e36. 1 and 4 still worked.

Based on the symptoms, I doubt its the final stage resistor, as they don't go "poof" in one day ...

Hi guys, some feedback....
Diagnostics showed that it was indeed the fan inside the dashboard that broke.
I was lucky and the garage fixed this issue for me, I think the fan was R2800 (while another qoute was R10k!

When it was replaced it rubbed somewhere, leading to it braking again and them having to order another one. (not my problem luckily) Take note if you DIY that this does not happen to you.

All is well now and I have a working AC again :rollsmile:
