Good day petrolheads.

Let me put something out there for those of us in the sub R250k bracket.

get the 745i

I've come through the ranks of boyracer imagery and 16v and v6's, ST and 'S and most other topical acronym.

You're looking to be seen on the scene, yet you need to be discreet at work and at road blocks... 745i

You're looking to drop that jap transformer at the track, robot, highway... 745i

You're tired of your wife,gf,mom nagging about "speed kills" and reminding you about the kids... 745i

You're an executive so you hide your nitelife persona... 745i

You're getting on in age, your kid count is high... 745i

Why 745i? I'll tell you...

V8 and the fuel consumption that you can drive it to work, the shop
and to college - 12.8l including traffic, clearing 220, robot to robot and just pure g-force acceleration to speed limits... 745i

Idrive tech - not the latest and greatest but it sure sparks conversation,
Navigate to "sport" suspension and if that car is in the right hands, I implore the average driver take me on in the twisted, grip upon grip upon grip... An engineering defying reality... 745i

Comfort and ride quality second to none - bar sport mode
So you want flappy paddles on the steering... Ok settle for buttons but hey... 745i

Do it, test drive it, moreover on our next run watchout... 745i

I thank you for taking the time read my rant

I agree. My Dad had a 745i, drove the nuts off it - was quite versatile. Slightly big for everyday use though, but it's manageable.

yeah, not quite in the same league, but peeps underestimate the e39 5 series, also "sneered" by some 3 series folks as so called "to big". but let me tell you, proper tyres, some sport suspension, and it can feel light and nimble very quick.

Don't you mean the HMS HOOD....

Those 7 series are too big in my opinion. But I will admit, I have never driven one, so I cannot say anything upon its handling. Only heard good things.

Knowing its a BMW though, it probably handles brilliantly.

From one Fanatic to another...... I love all things BMW ( with the exception of the gen 1, 1 series hatch)... But you won't stand a chance against any ///M car on the bends, no matter how big your engine is.

But I get it, suppose the 745 does the job just fine too.

I used to drive one of these whilst working for VIP Protection.
Will never forget returning from the Kings Palace in Swaziland and having my passenger tell me to floor it as he was late for a flight at OR Tambo.

It was like sitting in the lounge playing Gran Tourismo 5.
Comfort levels were extraordinary.
Car was flawless.

hits a few points for me, I actually LOVE the bigger cars, not so much of a "boy-racer" any more..thats why I own an E38 740i, but woudn't mind giving one of these a test drive either.

Granted, but I don't mind an M dropping me, it's the pound for pound merc n audi or super saloons or modded boy racer that I laughed at... Even some stalemate :=):

Come on guys let's get a decent following on the 7... I'll admit I was put off by the size... Truth be good, few hrs makes her as nimble as a pole dancer...

M5...

Still waiting for a 3 series to sneer at the M5. An M3 will get away quicker, but it will be too scared to slow down. Sort of like a Chihuahua being chased by a boerboel.

I might still fall under the younger category, but I love big cars. If space wasn't an issue I'd probably have another 5er or maybe a 7er
