You need to post some pics of the car...

What is dead, the Idrive, do you get sound when playing the CD, does your voice control work, does your PDC volume work ?

Your ASK unit has probably gone out...

Its a faily common problem on the pre 04 cars... your best bet is to find one in a scrapyard, cause I dont think you can afford the amount of vasaline you need if you do this at a dealer, i know i cant...

have you taken the car for diagnostics...

Going for diagnostic on tuesday.. first round of vaseline from BMW... Is the ASK unit the cd loader in front? do you know of any scrapyards that have this unit?

Yep.

The ASK unit is indeed the CD player in front. Issue is that you cannot just get a unit from a scrapyard, it needs to be coded, and the dealer will not code second hand units. THey point blank refuse.

Where are you located, I can maybe help you out with the coding.

Have you tried resetiing the entire system by taking off the battery ?

You should get them to agree to pay, then go to a dealership and ask what a total repair will cost they will be it will probably be something insane, have the tinting guys feel the full fury of the stealers.

you should maybe let the place that did the tinting know about this.

My thoughts too. But tinting is like most things. You get what you pay for. It won't hurt to follow up on the fineprint insurance for the tinting shop.

Glad you got your car (semi) working again.
