The prices vary massively. Maybe some more details? Manual or auto. Rust or dents. Broken lights, windows, interior salvagable. Parts are super rare and super expensive.

I have seen them going from R15000 to R35000 depending on the amount of work and km. Good condition R75,000.

Rather get one with a poked engine than one with a poked body and interior, engines are common.

I agree, motors are common but the rest will be hard to find in good nick. I'd say about 30k or so.

If its the same one as on autotrader with half the left wing folded under the car you could probably get R25000 unless the interior and the rest of the car is in very good condition. I would offer 25000 and see where it goes from there. you might get it for 28000. I am just going on the one photo but it generally speaking looks tired. 180000km... What does ZF stand for?

It looks ok, not too bad, ZF would have made either the g-box or diff, ZF Friedrichshafen AG, also known as ZF Group, and commonly abbreviated to ZF, is a German public company (Aktiengesellschaft or AG) headquartered in Friedrichshafen, in the German south-west region of Baden-Württemberg.

Specialising in engineering, it is primarily known for its design, research and development, and manufacturing activities in the automotive industry. It is a worldwide supplier of driveline and chassis technology, for cars and commercial vehicles, along with specialist plant equipment such as construction equipment. It is also involved in rail, marine, defence and aviation industries, as well as general industrial applications. ZF has 123 production locations in 27 countries.

I have a Getrag box, i have heard from many people that the Getrag box is stronger, but how true that is i dont know.

Getrag (written by the company as GETRAG) is a leading manufacturer of automobile manual transmissions. The company was founded on 1 May 1935, in Ludwigsburg, Germany, by Hermann Hagenmeyer;[1] as the Getriebe und Zahnradfabrik Hermann Hagenmeyer GmbH & Cie KG.[1] During the evolution of the company, it went from a Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung (GmbH) to an Aktiengesellschaft (AG),[citation needed] and todays' company name is derived from Getriebe und Zahnradfabrik Hermann Hagenmeyer AG ("Transmission and gear manufacturer Hermann Hagenmeyer AG").

I see someone who is looking for a 635csi mentioned that he did not want a dogleg 5 speed manual. Which one would that be?

the 262 GETRAG box was a 5 speed dog leg box but 1st gear sits where a normal cars 2nd gear is..
awesome strong gearboxes you can snap change hard but you will have to take a bond on the house to fix that gearbox once its broken!

The ZF box is not as strong if you compare the ZF 5speed (3.0L M3) to the GETRAG 6speed (3.2 M3)
but it can still keep up with 300kw on the wheels. they use the same GETRAG 6 speed in the twin turbo supra Toyota and that is good for 700kw+ , but the ZF can keep up with flat foot snap changing, the getrag ive broken more than once with just under 200kw on the wheels but crazy gear changes!

Ok, test drove this specific one, and it has the 5 speed dog leg box, and it takes some getting used to.....also checked out the body work has a number of what looks like hail damage....

On the interior, there is some pieces of the dash missing, also left back brake light damaged and repaired.....

also 4 not matching tires......still a nice car...itching......but not sure....
