540i diff ratio

Raybimmer says this is the spec on my car

Diff is same in auto and man , 2.81 ratio .Gearbox ratios same in M5 and 540i M . 65 in first , 109 in 2 , 166 in 3 , 225 in 4 , 275 in 5 , 331 in 6 all at 6500 revs geared speeds

331 in 6 - bl00dy hell !!! - want to move germany now too test this !!

isn't the diff ratio 2.91

As far as I have seen the ratio is a 2.93.

Also I think the 540i6 is geared around 350+km/h......which is insane, as the engine has no way of ever reaching that kind of speed.

Best thing you can do is to swap the diff for a 3.15 one.

E39 540i steptronic is 3.15:1 same as M5 .. only the very old auto's are 2.91:1
