Hi, I upgraded my sound on my 520d by adding a Lightning Audio High to Low, adding two amps. One drives the Rockford 10" Sub and the other the remaining speakers. I also replaced all the speakers & added tweeters. The head unit is the basic BMW radio for the 5 series. It isn't too bad but I find the following:
- Head Unit Aux input destroys quality;
- Head Unit quality in general shocking.
I was wondering about trying to get the Pro version of the radio from the scrapyard. Will this work and more importantly will it solve the quality issues.
Otherwise I could add my old top-end Alpine in a discreet position and somehow switch between the STD radio & the Alpine.
Any advice or ideas, especially maybe car sound shops that are very good?
