Hi Guys,

I have noticed a ticking sound come from the dash (centre console) This occurs only when driving and is not there when the car is idling. I have checked the web and it seems like this has something to do with the wastegate....I don't have a clue.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Is it normal?

Thanks

Yeah... it's a common problem in the new 3-series which has suddenly got worse since the announcement and pictures of the 2011 3-series came out.

Basically that sound is the counter which measures the value of your car dropping. There is an easy fix. You need to get an E46 M3 and remove the center consol, then take the center consol from the 335 and place it in the M3... there will be a sudden loud ticking but don't worry, this is the same ticking sound but it is in fact running in the opposite direction. Once the 335 consol adjusts to the higher value and desirability of the E46 it should stabilize. You will be left with some spare parts after this mod (the balance of the 335) if you cannot find a buyer for these throw them away as they will be pretty useless within the next year or so.
