335i - Limp Mode

I know this topic has been covered somewhat, but i can't seem to find the threads.
When I give it real stick in 1st and 2nd gear, even third, it suddenly goes into limp mode, minimal power, and sounds like V8 which is miss-timing. Higher up in 4th through 6 no problems.
I strole with it for a while and the problem goes away.
Any advice would be appreciated

that doesnt sound like limp mode. sounds like a misfire

I've experienced the same thing in my friend's 135i. But his was the pre-"twinpower turbo" engine (not sure of the engine model number). He said he had that when he hammered the car from cold. When he warmed it up first before driving hard, no problem.

Doesn't sound like limp mode if your car is fine in 4th gear upwards .

Firstly is your car stock? Secondly is your can a n54 and has it been in for the injector and fuel pump recall?

I'm with German_spec. First question, has it been "chipped"? If not, I would to check whole inlet manifold for leaks.

Plug in a ecu reader, and see what fault codes come up. Or if its still under MP, take it in to your local BMW! Could possibly be the Vanos solenoid? The N54's do build up alot of oil...

Sounds like boost sensor to me IF car is still stock! Too much boost and car cuts out! :idea:
