335i Engine smell

Hi Guys,

Just want to know if it is common to get a burning/funny smell from the engine after a normal/slightly hard drive? Temperature got to about 120 but the car always has a weird smell after when parked and switched off.
Is it normal?

Well its hard to tell exactly but it is pretty hot too, even the plastic parts in the engine bay.
It may be the brakes, but do they smell for over 45mins after parking?

That does not "smell" right. Check everything under the hood for oil or even fuel...take the cover off the motor and check if you can see obvious wetness or smells such as oil or fuel and try & locate it. You should be able to pick up unusual smells even when the car is cold.

It smells hot, not an oil or petrol smell as such. More a dry pungent sort of smell, maybe it could be the cats?

it happened to me a few months ago.
