330D pre-lci and lci motor number

Good day all,

I am hoping to get some assistance. I am still on a hunt for another vehicle and found one. When I pulled out the manufactured information on the car, it shows it is manufactured in 2007 and has the motor number. As far as I am aware, the pre-lci E90 had a 160kw engine and the lci e90 had a 170kw engine, yet the specification on the car shows it to have a 170kw engine. Does that mean the pre-facelift E90 could have the facelift engine in it?

Engine number on the http://www.bmwarchiv.de/ website shows Motor M57D30O2 - 3,00l (170kW). I did do a search but did not find out much about that engine number. Can anybody please assist with any information.

Morning KVI,

The info on http://www.bmwarchiv.de/ is very accurate as I did mine on that website and then verified it via ISTA-D and it is the same. And the answer is yes, that motor was manufactured since 2005, see below

Hey bud, the LCI motor with 180kw only came out in the 330d LCI/facelift.

On the pre-lci, in '07 they claimed the power output increased from 160kw to 170kw but it was the same engine and to me performed the same as well, think it was just marketing.

So basically, if it's a pre-lci, it has the 160/170kw motor (same thing), if it's an lci which was introduced at the end of '08, it has the 180kw motor.

So, I am interested in 2 different cars. Weird thing is that http://www.bmwarchiv.de/ only finds the full details for the one car and the other only has limited information. Anybody else ever seen this before?

It is very weird that the full information from BMW is not available. One of the other sites work but want to get all the information from the BMW site.

Don't know much about your motor. But towards the end of the pre-lci production it could have been possible to get the lci motor. I know a guy with 320d pre-lci and it has the N47 motor with wider rear wheel base.

Some 08 pre LCI 330ds do have the N57 but not any of the LCI suspension upgrades and so on.

correct,my pr- lci has lci 330d motor in it,was one of the last pre-lci to be built,also the first owner bought it through BMW Roslyn directly and not through a dealer,apparently knew somebody there

confirmed by BMW 180kw/520nm and after getting 498nm on rear wheels,took it back to BMW to find out what had been done and was told not to worry,and I must just enjoy it. they also so claimed I had a special one,with big grins on there faces

I have and am still enjoying it,that is when im not in the defender

Colin you must have the only one as I've never heard, seen or come across a pre-lci with a lci motor! You never mentioned that to me in our conversations. That is awesome! Karsh my apologies bud, u were right. Guess there must only be a handful though if that many!

im sure I must have mentioned it between ice creams,and coffees:rollsmile,remember that picture I took of arbee's,yours and mine parked at kyalami one night,all sparkling graphite,but not one looked the same colour,all were different shades.

I did hear from my contact at bmw that when the new lci parts were available and they were still building the pre-lci that some of these parts ended up in the pre-lci cars.i suspect that my diff is lci as well as my 19 inch tyres and rims are inline with the body,arbee had same size and offset and his were more in.so who knows

it isn't the first car I have had this with,vw jetta vr6,had facelift mechanical parts on it while body style was old shape,actually it was horrible as getting parts was a nightmare,even at vw
