330D Auto - No Power/ Does not rev above 2500rpm

Hi,
I have just had my Turbo replaced, when I got the car back and drove it home, there is absolutely no power at all. The car does not even rev much above 2500-3000rpm. it is like it is waiting for something to happen.( i would never be able to overtake the slowest car on the road due to no power.) The is a slight whine which I didnt have before. The car also is battling to change gears, which i think is related to the low revs ? also especially when I am going uphill @ abt 2000rpm the car seems to shudder ( revs go up and down slightly) it is as if it is rocking ever slow slightly.
Any assistance or advice would be appreciated.
I am taking it back to the mechanic today, but would like to enquire and learn about this myself, so they cant lie to me.
Please help.

Is the car boosting at all? It might just be the map sensor is unplugged or not plugged in fully. Then you won't get any boost and it will drive like a normal aspirated diesel... Slow... and lazy to rev up past 2500rpm.

It sits right at the back of the intake manifold against the firewall.

Otherwise vacuum lines to and from the turbo like Rayzor mentioned.

Hi, thanx for the reply, the car does not boost at all. Dead and extremely slow, no revs.

How about actually introducing yourself to the forum.. tell everyone about your car etc...

Then ask some questions instead of just asking away and expecting tons of answers ?

Sorry I didnt realise I was supposed to do all that, ...my car is a 2004 E46 330D automatic, it has around 180 000 km on the clock. The Turbo was replaced and when I picked up the car it had the problem as mention in my thread. I am going to take it back to the mechanic , but would also like to learn as to what is causing this as it my help me in the future.

It's always best to register, then introduce yourself in the new members section.

From there post some pics of your car, all the guys here love pics...

Then the rest is to chat, have fun and go through some of the threads... tons of info on your car here and a lot of people with outstanding knowledge on these cars.

Hi, just wanted to thank everyone for input. I returned the car to the mechanic and he advised me that some of the vacuum pipes needed to be replaced. Im not sure why he did not do it the first time round.
But atleast I got the car back and it is going well.

Thanx.:ty:

Glad its sorted, your mechanic is a doos simply because he returned the car without testing it properly. This will be the same mechanic that forgets to put in oil after draining it and will charge you for a new engine. Rather go to sean at level 7 or Gizmo in future:thumbs:
