325i E36 Gearbox

Hi gentleman

I am in need of some urgent advice please: Recently I had my head replaced as it cracked. Unfortunately i was referred to the biggest poephol in cape town.

After 3 months of "repairing" the head, i got my BMW back with a faulty gearbox. I now have no second gear. Also when started, it makes a noise similar to a grrrr sound. I thought it was the release bearing, so i had it replaced. It was not it. Also learned that the gearbox is leaking a lot of oil.

As I drive, the sound becomes louder and faster as i speed up. All the other gears are still working properly.

Does this mean i must replace the whole gearbox, or is this repairable?

Will appreciate the advice.

Bud,

BMW manual gearboxes are super strong, and dont break, or they should not.

Maybe your mackie swapped them, or something.

Best Alternative would be a second hand box for like 2 to 4k

But, you have Rick540 in town...

PM him :)

I also think the grease monkey swapped your box out. BTW 316i to 325i all share the same 5spd getrag gearbox.
