Would like to know which one is better.
I do own a 320d e46 6 spd but just like the I6 more.
How is the 330 on fuel consumption and any major faults.
Can buy a 2004 auto for 69900
Cheers

For E46 I would say 6spd manual is best, but the auto is better for the E90 models (especially the LCI model). My opinion though. I also had an E46 320d 6spd, you'll love the E46 330d, the 320d is a nice car but the d just ups everything!
I do agree. The 30d is thirstier... However really not bad. My 530d does between 6 and 6.5l/100 on the open road and I'm getting 8.3l/100 on my Broadacres-Lanseria-Broadacres daily commute...Vicus said:Mmmm....brain says 320d, but heart says 330d.
While 320d is probably the one of most balanced (power/economy) cars on the road today, I am pretty sure you will get a good bit more driving pleasure from the 330d, and while the 330d is a good chunk more thirsty than the 320d (don't be fooled), it is by no means heavy on fuel. It is still very economical compared to most other similar sized sedans out there.
320d
You can fill up in Gauteng, and drive to Port Elizabeth with one tank. You will need to never go over 120, but it can be done. And, your car will still be more powerful than the average car on the road by a good stretch. Especially great overtaking power. In spite of being so economical it is still quick enough to be labled "sporty". Particularly fun when people who don't know these cars, underestimate you...hehehe. You will become used to surprised looks when you pass, and these dudes see you are driving a 2 litre diesel. Their expression clearly saying: "wtf ?"
330d
You will not be able to do the Gauteng to Port Elizabeth trick. But your car will not be what most refer to as "thirsty". You will still get very good economy compared to most similar sized sedans. Power, will be great, almost in the "thrilling" catagory. The cars that will be quicker, are probably going to be way more expensive, and/or be a hell of a lot heavier on fuel. In this regard, it still a very well balanced car.
P.S.
Not such an easy clear-cut choice, in my opinion. Depends mostly on personal situation. priorities, what the car will be used for mostly, etc. Either car is a good choice I think.
