Hi all,

My 320d 2009 has a slight judder when i pull away.

I've heard that it might just be an engine mounting...

Any advice?

i know on our e90 320, had the shudder problem on the clutch at 17k km .. was replaced under motorplan .... 20k km later .. was replaced again ..

Just curious, have you removed the CDV? I am pretty sure that's why these diesels go through clutches so fast and develop problems with shuddering...

Mine used to shudder, did 70k km like that never got worse. Was an intermittent problem for me.
Got worse when my vacuum pump acted up, but that also resolved itself and the shudder went back to only being there occasionally in 1st gear.
sold the car at 198k km

The clutch on my 330i has always had a tendency to shudder (mostly when the car is cold) when pulling off with just a bit less initial throttle that is needed. I think this is being caused by a combination of the dual mass flywheel, engine characteristics, and the revs/load - once it starts it sort of gets itself into a rhythm. Best is to avoid it from doing this by being a bit more attentive to those first few pull-offs - the idea being that you help prevent the clutch from developing run-out etc. I reckon things are very similar on the 320d and other E90's.

2 of the previous 320d bmws we had had the same problem. After we replaced the clutch on both they both were perfect again. Lets hope your solution is slightly less pricey:thumbs:

My 2007 320d has 120000km and I have been through 2 clutches. Seems like Phillip has hit the nail on the head. What is the CDV? Sorry for hi jacking.

CDV = Clutch Delay Valve (read more info here)

Where is the CDV located:

I had 3 clutch and flywheel replacements (on MP) on my E90 320d and this was all before the car reached 100k kms. Only explanation dealers offered was torque was too much for the friction components. Symptoms on 3 occasions was mild shudder which got progressively worse.
