2015 RS Q3 views on long term ownership experience

Hi,

I have not got any feedback from the Audi forum, so hoping someone here can share their views...

I am considering a used 2015 RS Q3.
Mileage~60-70,000km.
There are a handful of these cars on the internet from reputable dealerships.
I figure that I should have 1 year and 30-40,000km left on the Plan to hopefully get the big ticket items sorted out (dependent on how stingy Audi SA want to be).

Being a junior RS model, the chances of these cars having been molested by previous owners (especially if there was a 2nd+ owner) is quite high.
Though, I expect that that most abusive owners would have gone for the straight RS3 8P (which had a bit more extra power than the RS Q3).

Naturally, I would be looking for a car without any aftermarket performance mods.

My reason for choosing the RS Q3 is that I am looking for something exciting, a bit unusual/bonkers, with all wheel drive and a little bit of gravel road ability (very tame gravel roads - no bundu bashing) and some rear space for a child seat.
I expect to travel 20,000km pa on average and mainly use it for my daily commute from Midrand to Jhb, with 2 or 3 trips to the coast (including mild gravel driving) per year.
The RS Q3 is based on the old 8P platform, so I am willing to accept that it is not the most dynamically handling car in its class.
Also, I am expecting high maintenance bills after the Plan expires, but I would prefer paying for preventative maintenance vs. having something big just fail unexpectedly.

Are there any issues with this motor or this DSG gearbox on a long term basis, assuming that all maintenance has been done on time?

Also, did this car come with a space saver spare wheel?

Any views would be appreciated.

Thanks.

This is a sample of three but Audi will ignore complaints on the box on purpose until it is off plan and hit you with a mechatronics bill. They are alot worse than VW and BMW for that matter who will repair if you have documented a complaint prior to plan ending (within reasonable mileage). We are talking cars a couple of thousand km out of plan. Three mates with RS cars almost identical results... with the DCT boxes

Dealers in JHB almost all have dodge stories of handling clients RS cars - crashing, damaging, abusing, sabotaging, fraud, write off car and tell you to claim from your insurance.. . Dont bother on the Audi forum - check out old news24 and hello Peter if they havent expired or been archived. It is not one or two incidents.

The one mate with an RS Q3 had issues sourcing brake pads even from Audi themselves and apparently it was unique to the RSQ3 (at least at the time) with no alternative. It was like 6k for the fronts.

Apart from those points to consider and the horrific depreciation (which you will benefit from in your case lol) I dont think too much else goes badly wrong. Gearbox is expensive but not "write the car off" expensive.

Last year I had a big fight with VW for their lousy gearbox DQ200. It failed just after the warranty expired 92K km. To make matters worse, Getrag is not in the country unlike ZF. VW only replaces they don't fix so you will have to find a reliable service center that can help you.

For that reason I will never ever buy any VW until Getrag opens centers locally.

that's my 2 cents...
