2011 E90 Bmw 320d 106 000km Service

Hi Guys
So I did not renew my motorplan and I am almost due for my
105-106k service.

I am taking the car to the agents and waiting for a price.
I was told it is the following:

SCOPE
MICRO FILTER
OIL
OIL FILTER

What I needed to know is if I get like a K&N filter or Bmc would that work out to the same dealer price on the air filter and will it make a difference on my car.
Car is stock for now.

Power difference will be miniscule at best. Don't do it for a power increase.

However, what you need to remember is that the dealership air filter needs to be replaced at certain intervals, whereas the K&N or BMC air filter can be cleaned and reused, and also has a lifetime guarantee. Therefore in the long run you will save money if you go for the K&N/BMC as you will never have to buy another filter again.

I am not going the filter route for power I am going this route so I don't have to always buy a filter.
Thanks guys

Then it is definitely worth while IMO. I'm doing the exact same.

Just got my Bill and Bmw can go screw themselves:

OIL FILTER - R284.87
ENG OIL - SHELL BMW 5W-3 - R510.06
FUEL FILTER - R602.28
AIR FILTER - R849.98 (RATHER GET A K&N)
MICRO FILTER - RR588.19
CONSUMABLES - R57.00
LABOUR - R1314.10
GRAND TOTAL FOR 106 000KM SERVICE - R4206.50

Can anyone confirm if I can get the above parts cheaper and the part numbers on the invoice, can I use the same if I go buy the parts myself, as I don't mind paying for the labour, just think the parts are just to high.

The parts are reasonably priced, it's the labour that's slightly out, all in all its not an exorbitant quote.

You can try get the oil and filters from GW, but like Singh said above, those prices are fairly reasonable so you won't save much I think. It's worth getting a comparative quote though.

The labour is however a bit expensive, but that is what you get from BMW, who charge you in 5 minute intervals at something like R80 for 5 minutes.

I spoke to BEMOW and based on the just the
OIL FILTER / FUEL FILTER MICRO FILTER
SAVING - R250.00

What oil must I get
the same as advised : SHELL 5W-30 - (WILL 5 LITRE BE ENOUGH)
Air Filter I will get a Bmc - and that's another - R200.00 saving

Noted
I will just get the air filter and micro filter.
What about the oil.
I'm sure I can get a 5Litre cheaper as they quoted me on 6 x 1litre bottles shell bmw 5w - 30
So now is this shell helix or shell helix ultra

Oh and Bemow quoted me on Bmw parts.
I gave them the part number and that's how I was quoted.

Oil you can get cheaper elsewhere.....

Clarify if they are getting the parts from a Bmw dealer :coolShake:

Okay thanks
Do you by any chance know which Shell it is.

I also just called Autostyle and they said a 2011 e90 bmw 320d takes a cone type filter that sits in the airbox.

is this true

I agree don't buy anything ells but oem on filters. Apart from pollen filter that you can buy a GUD. They have switched over to shell which is better as I belive castrol is crap. The shell they use prevents more sludge and comes out cleaner when draining.

On the BMC or K&N. You wasting your time. I have had lots of cars with aftermarket filters and no matter how much you oil it and clean it they let thru dust. On a oil burner like the 320D, sucks a he'll of alot of air and those filters can't hold the volume. I have a V6 3.2 isuzu with a 3k BMC dia system and it let dust in. I really don't think it's worth the money. Why fix something that's not broken? Keep the oem filter. That white pillow stuffing on the bottom shows you bmw really thought about clean air.

Ps mine is also a 2011 320D with 130 000km on the clock....

If it were me I would just get the fuel and oil filter from bmw.

I have used a K&N filter on my previous e90 320d for 40 000kms and my current e90 320d for 35 000kms and my e46 330d for about 20 000kms. It's obviously not long enough to tell if there are any adverse effects but I doubt it will have any serious negative effects. And the cost saving on the lifetime filter is well worth it. Did a bit of research for you twincam and it seems the n47 uses a flat panel filter.

The cabin filter I would definitely just go with aftermarket.

And oil I would go with liquimoly.

Hi Guys

thanks Diesel I also checked this morning and it is a flat panel filter.

I think with the oil, I want to stick to what agents used as I have heard of horror stories after changing to a different brand.

Gareth, on the filter the k & n and bmc is way cheaper than the original.
I understand what you saying but In the next month or so I will be doing the down pipe and software, so will this not assist the car in the long run.
