Hi Guys,

saw a very good deal on an E60 530d, M-Sport, Black on Black..all boxes ticked...only no xenon lights and no upgraded sound.

However low mileage of 125k on the clock with full service history, I want to use this car as a daily.

Can owners/ex-owners etc. please share your experiences...i know power-wise it would now be shy of that

2009 would have the N57 motor, score!

realistically speaking 8-10 L/100KM

Ash, depends on the journey. A lot of in-town traffic can have these 3.0d's sitting anywhere above 9L/100km.

If a lot of open road, highway driving is involved, that number can easily drop into the 6's.

+1

My 330d is only driven on weekends which means I tend to boost a lot more than is needed due to my daily being a bakkie. Currently it's sitting on 8.2l/100 with mostly town driving over 550km on the tank so far.

Realistically you should get around 7.5-8l/100 when driving normally whilst commuting. Open road you'll easily get low 6l/100 or even high 5l/100.

Really does depend on the trip Ash, The inside roads, speed bumps and traffic lights will kill your consumption.

Unfortunately these are still the M57 motor with the 6 spd auto and the torque convertor really eats into the urban consumption.

My wifes' trip to work and back sees more traffic than me, about 30% is in the CBD, while 20% freeway and the remainder is urban, but you can get up to 60-70km easily.

My trip is about 5% CBD traffic, 75% percent freeway and the remainder urban.

My average on a tank when driving my car on my daily commute is ranges from 7.1-7.5l/100km, when the wife uses it for her commute, it goes up to 9.2-9.7l/100km.

My fuelly is below, you will notice a change in the graph from around sept 16, which is when my daily commute changed to what i mentioned above. The spike since sept 16 is the time my wife used my car for almost the entire tank.

My consumption prior to sept 16 was higher because my previous route included more CBD traffic than now.

As the guys have said, depends on your commute, I do 70/30 freeway/town give or take, and average below 7l/100km.

I have not fallen in love with my E60 since ownership, but it is a large comfortable vehicle, with loads of power, so as a commuting tool, it ticks all the boxes.

I tend to agree with this. Mine hasnt stolen my heart like the E39 did for me...

Thank guys!

I will do more research on the M57 engine as well...however I do not seeing it being too bad. I do not want to buy an F10 5 series...and also, finding a decent 330d E90 LCi now is hard...i like the E60 5ver...i know i can use it daily and also still as a family car and have my fun as well.

Will take it from there, it is being viewed this evening by our trusted buddies...and let us see. I think with the spec and the price...it is awesome!

And i have always loved the E60 LCi look, even was considering the 520d at one stage...but this 530d is a no-brainer.

The Space Grey is gorgeous but a black one would have to do for now lol
