2007 Z4 Soft Top not working

Hi guys

I require some help and advice please.
I took my car for a wash and polish, the guys at the car wash opened the roof but not fully - ie. the button to open the top was still blinking when I got back.
The car roof then refused to close and was just stuck.
We then tried a number of things, ensuring the release levels in the boot were at the lower level, disconnecting the battery for a while to reset the car etc.
Eventually we had to manually close the roof by pulling the (Bypass cable) red release cord in the boot. The motor then latches the roof closed and opens it but does not fully open.
I took the car to BMW and they said the motor and fuses are fine and that I need to bring the car back as they need to open the canvas of the roof to investigate, not sure what needs to be checked there.

I read a few forums and a similar issue was solved by pulling the Bypass chord a few times. The issue now is that this chord seems to be stuck.

Any ideas of what I could do or anyone knows of where I could take the car to get it checked and repaired in the Midrand area. Just sick and tired of going to the dealership and getting the run around and paying so much. P.S its not the first time I have had poor service at dealerships.

Hi Bud

Thats not good, these roofs can be really costly to repair. Did you try opening and closing the roof with the Key? Maybe the centre console buttons are sticky or faulty.

Regarding the roof, so you took the car with the roof closed and they opened it halfarsed and washed the car? The Z4 has no decklid they could break by pressing on it when it's not completely latched. There is a possibility they treid to manually press something back.

Have your codes on the roof read, perhaps that will give a indicaiton.

Otherwise in Gauteng Wynberg autotrimmers are the only people to touch that roof.
