Hey Guys,

Got a call now from stealers where my bmw is, they busy with the checks for my change in ownership(motorplan), they informed me that the front left shock is bent http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/images/smilies/Top24/cry.gif
and that motorplan wont cover for it,cos it either got bent because of accident or pothole. They quoted me 10k to change it http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/images/smilies/Top24/thumbdown.gif

My question is, does anyone know the type of shock it is, so I can get dunlop tyres in rivonia to give me a price and also will the bent shock cos an issue for them to not transfer motorplan ?

Does anyone know the price of front shocks for my bmw ?

thanks guys, just so annoyed right now!

you will need to fit the shocks from BMW to keep the MP happy...

If you were off MP i would have good options for you :)

Thats a ridiculous price.

Can they prove that it was bent due to an accident or pothole or is that their assumption.

Maybe see if your current insurer will cover pothole damage.

If you did hit a pothole hard enough to bend the shock should your rim not have a slight buckle as well to confirm this?

Thats bad bro....

Well i went about a month back and the said my shocks need replacing. They did tell me that there is a back log at BMW in Germany for front shocks.

They only fitted the back ones...Got a call today to bring in the car cause they just received them...

But 10K for one shock is bull...

Sorry to revive this thread gents but good question

Im not due for shocks yet, but id like to find out just for interests sake.

1. What are the options ( for a average shock replacement ) ?
2. What is the cost ?

car is out of MP.

Hey Dude,

If you out of motorplan, suggest going to dunlop tyres on rivonia road, speak to collin, he will gladly help you and ensure you get the best deal!

for a good replacement its hard to beat
Koni STR.T
Front R 2960 a pair
Rear R 1795 a Pair

I have other options on a higher budget but these outperform the stock shocks and are way above the cheaper options :)
