Hi guys.

I'm looking at trading my 320i for a X3 2.0d.

Both have 200 000kms. The X3 doesn't have a service history, but it doesn't bother me to much...

Is the 2006 X3 2.0d a reliable car? What should I look for when I go test drive it?

What big services are immanent at that mileage?

The M47 is a bullet proof motor.
At that mileage, expect a turbo overhaul, swirl flap delete and possibly gearbox/transfer case issues.
Other than that, its bullet proof.

No service history bothers me alot!
Cant tell if the oil services were done on time!
Def a deal breaker for me...

I bought a badly treated one with issues on about 155k kms. I immediately removed the swirl flaps, the catsand also plugged the egr vacuum pipe after i cleaned the egr and maf sensor. It was hiccuping very badly when i drove it home after i bought it but with the stuff i did to it it was sweet as a nut!! I to this day do not know what caused the hiccuping (it was so bad the previous buyer only had it for three days before returning it to its original owner). I got if for a song. Anyway, after the mods it was an amazing vehicle. It also had a major transfer case problem when i got it, so after i disconnected the electrical plug on the transfer case it drove like new. In two wheel drive i must add! I had it for about 198 months before replacing it with an F25 X3. It was one of the nicest cars i had as it had zero problems after i bought it. I even towed my smallish caravan to Hartenbos for holiday and it went like a dream. O yes, remember now, i had to replace the crankshaft dampener pulley at about 180k kms. The pulley is a known problem on all the BMW cars.
