2006 120D

Good day all,

Ran into a 120D 2006 model with under 100k km on the clock. Any advice on these vehicles? Do they have common issues and is there anything I can look for that could give issues? Price is R115k.

Any advice is appreciated. The KM's are low for the year which could mean mainly town driving which does add a lot of ware and tear onto the car.

Crank shaft pulley does give out. Can't really check unless there are visible tears in the rubber. The m47 engines are pretty solid. If the cars clean and its service history checks out then go for it. You could also message coisman on the forum to check the vehicles history.

Thanks for the feedback. I do have his email and the feedback he has given thus far is nothing but amazing. He got back to me very quick and saved me from buying 2 cars that were bad.

How much does it cost to replace the crank shaft pulley? Expensive exercise? Alternatives, etc?

Depends on the car i reckon. I know my aunts 06 model is currently on ±230k km and they have never had any major issues.

In terms of prices I am not sure about that particular item but I know they are pretty solid cars...

About 5k for an OEM part. All cars will have their issues. You shouldn't worry about buying a BMW diesel. They are solid engines.
