Hi all, newbie to the sight with a new old E46 325i. Previous happy owner of an E30 318i and 320i, an E36 316i and an E46 320d.

Besides for what I've read on this forum - anything else I should look out for? I'm planning on replacing the water pump, thermostat, valve cover gasket, vanos seals and having the front suspension looked at (horrible over speed bumps and when braking)...Also any suggestions for part brands to use / steer clear of and perhaps also a recommended techie in Johannesburg North / Sandton for jobs I don't want to DIY, like the suspension?

Many thanks for listening , cheers - Richard

for suspension go with Lemforder or Meyle for peace of mind

Thanks Trevor, appreciated. Any suggested company or independents you can suggest to take a look in JHB (suspension)?

What is your mileage? Manual or Auto?

It sounds like you're on the right track. I might consider doing a bit more of the cooling system (upper and lower radiator hose, radiator) as they are all weak points sooner or later.

If I had to guess, your suspension issue is at minimum, front lower control arm bushes. Hopefully just that.

Agree with the recommendation for Meyle HD or Lemforder for suspension parts. Goldwagen in general stock quite good quality parts for almost everything, but stay away from Topran on suspension (my opinion).

Cool thanks, manual with 350000km...will definitely insist on Meyle HD or Lemforder then and look at the hoses too
