Well it all depends on what you want from a car and if the 323i will suit your needs. From a performance point of view it's by far not the fastest car on the road but ok performance and at least a inline6 sound :=):
Best is to find out what they will ask you for the extension of the motorplan. i extended mine with 15 000 and at that stage was like R1 a km so you looking at around 15-20k as i heard extension prices went up. if you have to extend years instead of mileage it's way cheaper..
But overall the 323i is a really nice car....

Hello and welcome.
Why dont you give your local dealership a call and ask them what it would cost?
Also are you looking at buying this car from a dealer or a private seller?
Most dealerships offer you a motorplan extension of some sort!

Dealership, it has motorplan till 100000km or 5 years, i'll call and just enquire on estimate for after it jumps 100000kms. Is the maintance between a 323i and 325i that different? and realibility?

Go for a manual, the straight 6 in the 323i is very high strung, a manual will give you a great deal of flexibility.

The 323 and 325 are pretty much the same, maintenance and reliability wise although the 325 has more grunt and is probably the more well rounded of the two.
Either way, both are very decent choices.

Extending by mileage is going to hurt your wallet. But after 5 years if you haven't reached 100k km you can still extend by time only (another 2 years). It's cheaper and probably worth your while. Despite those cars being very reliable and trouble free. (with odd exceptions of course).
For petrol motors from an economy point of view get the manual. Obviously from a driver perspective as well
For that kind of money I would rather suggest a 320d. Coming from a converted petrolhead, I'm quite enjoying my diesel now. They are frugal, fast (Especially in manual) and fun. The autos are normally better suited to the diesels IMO.
