Thanks Scouse.

Appreciate it. Oh well, was worth a shot.

were you seriously keen on getting one? if you do manage to get one, you are very lucky. I also found that those who have an allocation, get what BMW SA dishes out to the respective dealerships. So even if you were called in and asked to choose your options, you are most probably not going to get that car.

Its a bit unfair, like what if you get a car with the bluetooth option ticked off? Thats R7000 you have to pay for, in my opinion, is a useless option. And you are forced to take it because you want the car.

Well yes, hence the reason I created the thread..

It was for a family member, but they will take a 1 coupe instead now since they can't afford to wait..Though i would try my luck here.

ok cool, just a bit of inside info: 54 units are allocated to SA, which 3 months ago stood a chance of increasing if production of the E-series continued into 2012. But BMW AG has already started with the new F-series 1 series so there will not be any more E-series based 1er's coming to SA. I know of two shipments of 1M's arriving in SA, not sure whether the two lots make up the 50 cars or not, could find out though.

Either way, every car is spoken for so if you are serious about you would have to pay someone a premium to get one! SAD!

Sad indeed but one could build your own based on the n54 platform?

sure, as long as you buy a new body, suspension, diff. easy :)

Diff is R38000 & R8000 each side shaft. They actually used the V8 DCT diff ration instead of the Man diff ratio. I was No.1 on Auto Umhlanga's order books but opted out due to only manual.

Wow, must have taken a lot to say no thanks to the car. Funny enough, I asked Auto Umhlanga if they are getting one, the guy I spoke to said yes they are, but it was sold last year. Was it you?

If you planning on doing it calculate in a propshaft as well. You will need the 1M prop and have it shortened slightly for the DCT. You also need to check if the 1M uses special hubs as the M3 sideshafts work on the 335 but not the 135.
