I’ve been an E36 nut from the time I can remember and owned quite a few along the years. Of late, there just hasn’t been any that were really worth the chase.
So when this showed up in my complex recently I couldn’t help myself. Stalked the car for a while until the owner showed up, after chatting and the whole “will sell for the right price” story, I could tell a deal was there. I didn’t need another car just yet but my younger brother needed a first car and there was no doubt that this was a great car to start with. So few days later, the car was purchased at a great price.
The car is a 1999 318is - last of the 4 door range. Came with rear PDC (which still works), the bigger button radio, clear lenses all round and rear blind.
The car spent much of its life in the Western Cape and the last 5 years in Pretoria. Its had a bit of a hard life recently with a nose panel crash, control arms bushes shot, not serviced for a while and a few other cosmetics needing attention. But still for the price, its quite a piece of E36 history.
Part list: Nose panel, grilles, fogs, service kit and thermostat, control arm bushes, shocks, engine mounts, driver door mirror housing, tyres, some touch-ups here and there!
Then a good valet to try and get the seats to look less shiny!
Will post updates as we get things sorted.
Can’t wait for it to look and ride like it should.
