I am a new one to this but I would like to share my 71 Malaga tii, as this is a good way of keeping it on the road. I bought the car from the original owner who bought in Germany and imported it to South Africa. I have now had the car for 34 years, the engine has never been opened, matching numbers, the original spare is still in the boot!!

Welcome to the Forum! Nice to see more of these classics pop up here. I have never been a fan of Minilites on BMW's, but I have to admit, they do suit your car. Nice, clean example, I think this is the first roundie (pre Aug '73) tii I have seen in South Africa. I am also jelous of your nice trapazoidal mirror, mine was replaced with an ugly thing by the PO...
I still need a tii and a turbo to finish off my collection :)

mmm love those. cant wait to finish up my 2.
Malaga was a rare colour.

Not really, malaga was available from 1970 to 1976, and was one of the most popular colours on the model '71 cars.

There were only 2,447 RHD Model 71 tii's made though, and that is special!

Regards
Jacques

This one is probably one of the first tii s in the country, as it was brought into South Africa in August/September 1971. I do have the original rims and hub caps, with the 165 x 13 tyres, but not very good to drive with.

:praise: When I browse around the Internet, I am dumbstruck by how many of these cars are being revived, saved, restored and brought back to life.

What is even more amazing is that most of them are nut and bolt restorations.

BUT, yours is ORIGINAL! :praise: That is rare indeed! And, to think that this car is in SA!

Well done on keeping a piece of BMW history alive and well!
