Came across this on Autotrader and followed this LINK to the dealer website. What a beauty :inlove: Had no idea BMW made such a lovely car back then.

Love the shape and will still buy one , one day.. but R250K is way overpriced for a cs, csi maybe and if it was a CSL then it would have been way under-priced..

Even a CSL for R250k would be a bit steep unless its like showroom condition..

Still an amazing car. My neighbour has a E3 which is the sedan version. Its an amazing car!!

Buffy, at 250K a CSL would be a steal. Original CSL's are commanding prices over 500K overseas in ok condition. Showroom examples with the later 3003cc engine are even rarer and more pricey including if its a city pack. Lhd models command a bit more. So a csl could literally go over a million mark very easily.

The CSL 'Batmobile' units with original wing kits ect sell for over 1.5mil

That is true, but overseas collectors are starting to look at SA for some collectible cars. I know of a few cars that have recent times been scooped by overseas collectors at European prices a 333i comes to mind and a few others. I personally have been offered 450K for my MLE which is not for sale by an overseas collector.

But it is true that we in SA just cant compete with TRUE VALUES with local buyers. Sell it rather to an overseas collector.

I have to agree with Luis here.

That particular cs was recently sold for over R200k. They are selling for around EUR17,000 at the moment, so it will sell at near that price.

There has been an offer of R1m for a South African csl and this was turned down.

I have been offered R200k and R250k for my 2002tii and I have turned these offers down. Unless you are in the classic car market you won't understand. Supply and demand, and there isn't much supply of good vehicle.

We have a lot of hidden gems in SA... we need to start digging them out. I refer to my neighbours E3 again, his dad bought it new, now he is starting to drive it weekends etc, where are all the others!!??

When it comes to these cars the prices are on an exponential curve. You could pick up a dog for 30K, the more original and rare the models get the price is governed not by a trade in book but by what the market is willing to pay. And that makes them investments. If you purchased that car the value will only increase with time. Go cheap and you end up with a money sucker that will end up costing more than 220K you saved buying the dog. And after the full restoration it still won't be original or have the right documentation that push it a little further up the price curve.
