19' Rims and Motorplan???

Hi guys,

ive been searching the web for like ever for info on what effect changing rims would have on a motorplan. I just bought a E90 320i F/L EXCLUSIVE. it comes standard with those krappy 16's, i want to fit the replica 19" E92 M3 rims but im worried about the motorplan. does anyone know what effect this would have on the warrenty/motorplan??? any similar experiences??

any help would be greatly appreciated.

No issues, BMW are fine with it as long as your insurance is fine with it...spoke to quite a few dealers...you do not need run flats as well...just make sure you have a mobility kit:thumbs:

Are you sure about this ? or would it be better if i contact my dealer and get them to confirm it in writing ?

when i inquired about this at my dealer, they had a problem,i can change to an originaal bmw rim but not after market, the original rims are strong for the run flat tyres, also my insurance would have gone up by R500 as i was playing around with the safety aspect of the car.

i have bought 18'' original rims and will be putting on rft.

What about Motorplan saying that the larger rims having issues with the suspension
could have bought the rims and tyres as an option,so they didnt have a problem.

the only problem i can see when i put the 18''on is that it might look like a 4x4.exclusive has softer suspencion, not the motor sport

rather put on 18's, dude the E90 is heavy and runs fine on 18's, you will be cutting alot of power down but also the low profile runflats are hard. AFAIK, th michelin tyres that are used on BMW LCi now are the better ones, not sure if they tweaked the suspension actually

I would also rather recommend 18". They are lighter and will handle better than 19" and fill the arches nicely. Also remember that after-market replicas are NOT made for runflats, so you might have a problem there, but you can always have bmw fit a spare for you.

thanks for all the replies guys, really alot of very useful info... i did think about putting the 18's, i had an individual e46 came with 18's, i had no problem with the comfort, so i figured 18's on the lci wouldnt be a comfort issue.. then i noticed that sticker by the drivers door that has the tyre pressures, it had specs for 19's aswell so my lust for big rims got the better of me. now its a necessity... i know that if i put oe 18/19's it wouldnt be a problem with mplan.. but the price :flyfun: i didnt think of the insurance aspect aswell with the replicas... looks like im in the market for 2nd hand oe 18/19's now but with weighing up all the pro/cons looks like im leaning towadrs 18s.

its just so much easier to get my hands on replicas..

were they going to allow you to put original 19s?

here is a pic of an e90 with 19" csl rims on stock suspension... i think it looks sweet... i was going to put this rim initially...

Those are VMR's, CSL replicas, remember the original wheel has a different offset to the normal 3's... The VMW sit perfectly, and most of the other cheaper Replica's, the Original is wide and deep and looks the best IMO, but you will surely need to get the offset shaved for it to sit inside the arches...

i agree with you totally, im just not sure of the quality of the vmr... well now that you say, sounds like its quite good. but the original just looks so much better omg. i didnt know that the oe rims had to be shaved! well i guess thats a no go then. im just gonna keep lookin, and whatever i find ill take (provided i like it of course)
