ur car has a narrow wide set up .. hence the different profile .. in order to keep ur speedo calibration in check .. do stick to OEM spec on profiles .. thinks is a 215/40/18 and 245/35/18 ..

Frount rims are narrow
Rears are wide
Commonly known as narrows and wides
Fitting the same size/profile all round is possible but I would not recommend it

narrow on the front, for better steering response, due to a smaller footprint
wide on the rear for better power delivery between tyres and the road surface

if the car is still under MotorPlan, stick to the original specification, or kiss your MP "goodbye"

if your car is out of warranty, then do as you please, but be aware, that the handling will be compromised, but use common sense and adjust driving style to accomodate the reduced handling qualities

The gent was just asking if it's correct to run the different profiles and if he should stick to doing it. Not once did he say he wanted to put inferior tyres or the incorrect specification of tyres on. Also if you changed to an incorrect spec to say you can kiss your m/plan goodbye is a bit drastic, they may void a claim related to tyres and suspension but you wouldn't lose your motor plan altogether.

Personally I would change to a 225/40/18 up front and 255/35/18 on the rear. This opens a wider variety of available tires and could even save you a couple a Rands.
